Sales of Chinese cars in Ukraine decreased by almost one and a half times

During November 2024, there was a significant reduction in the sales of Chinese cars in Ukraine. According to the Ukravtoprom Association, only 822 Chinese cars were registered, which is almost one and a half times less than October 2024, as well as 37% less than in November last year. Among import cars with PRC, most make up new electric vehicles.

Reducing the demand for Chinese cars in Ukraine is concerned about the industry. In November 2024, new cars from China registered 698 units, which is 23% less than in November 2023. However, despite the decline, the share of Chinese new cars in the Ukrainian market is still 13%, which indicates a stable interest in this category of transport among Ukrainian buyers.

The main trend of this year is the increase in demand for electric vehicles, most of which are imported from China. 80% of all Chinese cars sold in Ukraine in November make up electrical models, which indicates the popularity of this mode of transport in conditions of increasing interest in environmental and economic solutions.

Among the new Chinese cars, the leader in the number of sales is the Honda M-NV electrocker, with which 99 units have come to the market. He is on the tail by Byd Song Plus (91 units) and ZEEKR 001 (73 units). They are popular models from other brands, such as Volkswagen ID.4 (71 units) and Audi Q4 E-Tron (35 units). However, not all Chinese cars are new. In November, only 124 used Chinese cars were registered at the secondary market, which is 69% less than last year. The main models in the secondary market are Tesla Model 3, Volkswagen ID.4, Baic EC3, Buick Envision and ZEEKR 001.

The fall in demand on Chinese cars can be associated with several factors. First, Ukrainians probably became more cautious in choosing a car because of the economic situation in the country and increased uncertainty. In addition, high prices for new cars, which is the result of both global economic problems and specific trade restrictions, can deter potential buyers. At the same time, the popularity of electric vehicles, especially among new Chinese models, confirms the existence of a sustainable interest in environmental solutions. These cars offer favorable operating conditions in the conditions of increasing fuel and instability in the energy sector.

Reducing Chinese cars in Ukraine in November 2024 is part of the overall trend of reducing demand for a car in the country. However, electric vehicles from China continue to remain an important part of the market, and Ukrainians are increasingly choosing these models because of their economy and environmental friendliness. Therefore, although the situation does not look the best, electric cars with China have prospects for further development in Ukraine.
