Pro-European forces win elections in Bulgaria

In the local elections in Bulgaria, pro -European parties showed convincing results, strengthening their positions in a number of major cities. However, intrigue remains in Sofia, the capital of the country where the second round between the two leading parliamentary forces will be held.

According to the European Truth news agency, the election results indicate significant support for pro -European parties in Bulgaria. However, the main intrigue was the second round of elections in Sofia, where the Coalition "Continue Changes" and "Democratic Bulgaria" (PZ-DB) and the Gerb Party, which traditionally has a strong influence in local authorities.

The coat of arms retains its leadership positions in most major cities, except for Sofia, where, according to Gallup International Balkan, a PZ-DB candidate, Vasyl Terziev, known as one of the largest Bulgarian IT entrepreneurs, is confidently leading with a 38.8%result. In the second round, he competes with a candidate from pro -Russian left -wing Grigorov (19%).

Sofia remains one of the few places in Bulgaria, where the left political forces demonstrate considerable support. In the event of Vana Grigorov's victory, it will be a significant change in the political field of the capital, which the coat of arms has managed for 17 years.

However, the final election results may change, since the difference between Vana Grigorov and Anton Hekemian (Candidate from Gerb) is only about 2%, according to exit polls.

Radical anti -European and pro -Russian Renaissance Party was unable to obtain the expected results in the local elections, which means that it will not appoint a mayor in any of the big cities.
