In the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, mass protests are ongoing arresting former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The confrontation between protesters and security forces has already led to the death of several people, and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on the citizens of Ukraine to be careful and avoid places of mass gatherings.
On November 26, thousands of supporters of Imran Khan entered the capital, breaking through the barricades installed by the government within the so -called "security lockida". The protesters who responded to the call of Khan conducted a sedentary protest near Parliament, demanding the release of their leader and the resignation of the current government.
Police used tear gas and rubber balls to stop the protesters, but this did not prevent them from moving to the city center. The government warned that the military should order to open fire in case of weapons using protesters.
The protests were killed by four security officers, including military rangers, who, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, moved a car of demonstrators.
Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been in prison since August 2023. His dismissal in 2022 was accompanied by numerous accusations, in particular in corruption and inciting violence. Despite the cancellation of one of the sentences, he remains in prison in the framework of another criminal case.
Due to the exacerbation of the security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for citizens to avoid places of accumulation of people, to follow safety measures and not to leave their places of residence without urgent need. The department also recommends that you always have documents, be careful and in the event of emergencies contact the Embassy of Ukraine in Pakistan.
