In the premises of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (SCCS) searches conducted by staff of the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR). The reasons for these investigative actions remain completely unreasonable, but there are already several possible versions of what could be their impetus.
According to the Center for Combating Corruption (CPC), one of the reasons for conducting the searches could be the statement of Maxim Buzhansky People's Deputy. However, the exact details of this appeal are still unknown.
Another probable reason is the complaint of the Judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv Oksana Tsarevich, known for her decisions on Avtomaydan activists who participated in the auto test in Mezhigorye during the Revolution of Dignity. According to representatives of the CPC, Judge Tsarevich appealed to the DBR with a statement that the SCCS allegedly interfered with her "personal life".
In addition, according to the "judicial reporter", the search was conducted on the basis of the decision of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv. Criminal proceedings concerns illegal interference with the operation of automated systems in bodies and institutions of the justice system, which is qualified under part one of Article 376-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The situation with searches in the CCSC causes great resonance in the public and the expert environment. Some see this attempt at political pressure on the judicial corps, and others - the desire of individuals to protect their own interests under the cover of justice.
The searches can have a significant impact on the CCCS reputation as a body responsible for the selection and certification of judges. If the violations revealed indeed take place, it will call into question not only the legality of individual decisions of the CCCS, but also the overall confidence in the justice system in Ukraine.
