Life in a state of constant stress, as during the war, puts serious challenges - especially for mental health. In an interview with Glavcom, the psychotherapist and teacher of Boris Grinchenko University shared basic but extremely important tips for maintaining emotional stability in an interview with Glavcom.
The main steps to maintain the psyche: sleep, nutrition and breathing are the foundation of your condition. It is these basic functions that are the first to suffer under the influence of stress. Watch them. Move! Physical activity helps to reduce the level of the hormone of cortisol, which is produced in response to anxiety, and returns control over the body and emotions. Recognize your emotions. You do not need to be ashamed of fear, sum or anger - these are natural signals of the body. Do not seek to be always joyful or productive. Regularly "wait" with you: ask yourself what you feel, what you want and what is exhausted. This will help you understand your condition. Learn to say no without unnecessary explanations. Take care of yourself without trying to be comfortable for everyone. Restrict information flow. Constant overload of news and social networks poisons the psyche. Arrange information breaks. Ask for help if required. This is not a sign of weakness, but a manifestation of responsibility and maturity.
"Forget about the perfect image of mental health," Sobchak advises. - The main thing is to live in your own rhythm, listen to yourself, take care of sleep, food and breathing. If at least one of these basic functions is broken, it is time to stop. ”
