The head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, appointed a new Minister of Defense after removing Sergiy Shoig from his post. The new candidate for the post of Minister of Defense is the first deputy head of the government of the Russian Federation Andriy Bilousov.
Sergei Shoigu headed the Russian defense department since November 6, 2012 and was the only minister from the Power Bloc that the President of the Russian Federation did not propose to appoint.
In addition, it is reported that Shoigu was appointed Secretary of the Security Council of Russia instead of Mykola Patrushev, who was also dismissed from the post of Secretary of the Security Council.
During the announcement of a new appointment, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation explained that the decision to appoint a civilian official to the post of head of the Ministry of Defense is conditioned by the need to introduce innovations in this area.
It is stated that Shoigu, becoming the secretary of the Russian Council, will also manage the FSS PTS of Russia to continue working in the field he knows from the inside.
The New Defense Minister, Andriy Belousov, has considerable experience in the civilian sphere. During his career, he held important positions in the Government of the Russian Federation, but is also under the sanctions of several countries, including Ukraine, the European Union, the United States, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, because of its role in various areas, including the financial sector and support of events in Ukraine.
