Five dead as a result of shelling between India and Pakistan

On the night of May 9, an armed confrontation between India and Pakistan intensified in the Kashmir region. The parties conducted intensive artillery and firearms along the control line - the actual border that divides two states in the disputed region.

According to Pakistani police, four people were killed as a result of attacks, at least 12 were injured. The Indian soldiers, for their part, reported one dead and two wounded in the Uri area, in the Union of Jamma and Kashmir. According to the statements of the Indian Armed Forces, shelling by Pakistan was made of artillery, mortars and small arms. In response, the Indian military opened fire on hostile positions.

The Indian edition of Hindustan Times reported an attempt to break the Pakistani sabotage group through an internationally recognized border area in the Samba district. The Indian Border Guard forces have eliminated at least seven fighters and struck in response to the Pakistani post from which the attack was carried out.

In addition, on the night of May 9, the Indian military reflected several missile attacks aimed at settlements along the border. According to India, up to 50 drones were launched from Pakistan airspace, and about 15 cities in the Jamma and Kashmir region, as well as in Penjab, were threatened.

In order to reflect the rocket threat, India used the C-400 anti-aircraft missile complexes, which managed to knock down at least eight Pakistani missiles. In some border areas, complete power outage was recorded, the educational process was stopped in schools and universities, and the local population is making emergency purchases in case of further escalation.
