The Board of Governors of the IAEA will consider the Russian attack on the Agency's vehicles

The Board of Governors of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) will hold an emergency meeting in Vienna on Thursday, December 12, to consider the Russian drone strike on the Agency's mission vehicle. The incident happened on the way to the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Ukraine initiated the meeting.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine called the attack of the Russian UAV on the vehicle of the IAEA mission "another crime and a manifestation of Russia's unprecedented cynicism." He emphasized that the Russian Federation is trying to intimidate international organizations in this way. "The actions of the aggressor against the Ukrainian energy sector require a decisive response from the international community," the minister emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Energy also noted that the IAEA adheres to an independent approach to assessing the level of security both at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant captured by Russian troops and at other Ukrainian nuclear power plants and critical facilities.

The official emphasized Kyiv's readiness to further support the work of IAEA missions at Ukrainian facilities. He emphasized that Ukraine will make maximum efforts to ensure their safety with the broad support of the international community, in particular, the IAEA.
