Participants of the Summit of Ukraine-Southeastern Europe, which took place on June 11 in Odessa, clearly stated that Ukraine's desire to become a full member of the North Atlantic Alliance. The announced declaration emphasizes that NATO membership is the best option for securing security for Ukraine.
"We support Ukraine on its irreversible way to full Euro -Atlantic integration, including NATO membership," the document widespread in the Presidential Office of Ukraine reads.
The leaders of Southeastern Europe also emphasized that no country is a member of the Alliance, including Russia, has a veto on the process of expanding it.
"We fully support Ukraine's right to choose our own security mechanisms and determine our future without external intervention," the declaration states.
Meeting in front -line Odessa had not only political but also symbolic meaning. In the face of continuing aggression from Russia, the participants of the summit demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine and readiness to deepen Euro -Atlantic cooperation.
