Republicans at the US Congress began investigations into the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to a defense plant in Pennsylvania, expressing suspicion of possible abuse of government resources and interfering with the future elections of 2024. This was reported by James Commer, Chairman of the Committee of the House of Representatives on Supervision and Accountability, on his page on the social network X (earlier Twitter).
During his visit, Zelensky examined the plant where 155-mm artillery shells for the Ukrainian army were produced. Commercial suggested that the trip could have been funded at the expense of US taxpayers. He also suggested that the visit could be facilitated by the Kamala Harris Political President, who would probably participate in the 2024 presidential election.
Commer requires the White House, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice to provide documents to investigate possible abuse. In his opinion, if the Biden -Harris administration really used a foreign leader to raise its rating, it can be regarded as abuse of power and taxpayers' finances.
In connection with the investigation, Republicans also demand to liberate the Ukrainian ambassador Oksana Markarova.
