Rheinmetall will produce additional tens of thousands of 155-mm ammunition for Ukraine

The German defense concern Rheinmetall has received a new order for the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine. According to RBC-Ukraine with reference to the RheinMetall and Defense Express page, the company won a significant order for the supply of artillery shells worth about 142 million euros.

The order includes tens of thousands of complete 155mm artillery shells consisting of a projectile, a detonator, powder and capsules for ignition of powder.

The customer is the NATO partner, which supports Ukraine in its defensive struggle through effective military assistance.

The shells will produce a Spanish subsidiary RheinMetall Expal Munitions, which has recently purchased RheinMetall. Order supply, about 43 thousand shells, is planned by 2025.

Recently, the German government has also ordered more than 100,000 ammunition 155-mm in Rheinmetall, including DM 121 fragmentation.

It should be noted that this order is part of the Aid Plan from the European Union, which began after the lack of artillery shells in the Armed Forces at the end of last year. The order is planned to be supplemented with other deliveries to provide Ukraine with a million artillery shells. It is emphasized that this process is under only 30% by March 2024, as reported by Bloomberg.
