This year has been a challenge for the Danish royal family, but despite the difficulties, Queen Margrethe II plans to spend Christmas in the traditional family circle.
According to tradition, on December 20, the Queen will go to Marselisborg Palace, where she will celebrate Christmas Eve with the family of Crown Prince Frederik and his family. Among the guests will be Crown Princess Mary and four grandchildren - Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
The Queen will be joined by her youngest son Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie, as well as the couple's two children Count Henrik and Countess Athena. However, Joachim's eldest son, Count Nicholas, will spend Christmas abroad, studying at the University of Technology in Sydney.
It has also been reported that Queen Margrethe II will celebrate Christmas at Marselisborg Palace, and while she is there, royal fans can watch the Changing of the Guard by the Royal Life Guards every day at noon.
Despite the challenges this year, Queen Margrethe II and the royal family are staying true to their Christmas traditions, coming together for a festive celebration as a family.
