In Germany there is an increase in the number of attacks on the car and the Tesla branch. According to a survey conducted by the German social publication of Spiegel among 16 state administrations of criminal investigation (LKA) of Germany, several incidents concerning this American brand have been recorded in the country recently. The most characteristic cases of vandalism, arson and damage to property occurring in different regions of Germany. One of the reasons for this increase in incidents is a protest against Ilon Maska's politics, Tesla founder and Presidential Advisor Donald Trump.
Since September 2024, 16 attacks were carried out on the car and the Tesla branch in Saxony. Among the loud incidents are two arson cars in Dresden, the acts of vandalism in Wilsdruf, where the car dealership was written in chalk, and the showcases were posted by posters. Graffiti cars were also damaged several times.
A few more attacks were recorded in other cities. There have been several cases in the thurning when scratches on the Tesla cars appeared on the paint and varnish. In January Meklenburg, this year, Tesla was contaminated with a black and purple pile of graffiti in January.
In March in Hamburg, a parked Tesla broke out on the street, and police suspect that it was arson. Similar incidents occurred in Bochumi and Essen, which also investigates suspicion of arson.
Tesla incidents attract public attention, and many believe that these attacks can be the result of political protests. One of the reasons for this is to protest against Ilon Mask's politics, in particular because of his relations with Donald Trump, which in particular causes indignation in part of German society. Musk, which actively supported Trump, became a particularly controversial figure and his businesses, including Tesla, can be a target for protesters.
In the city of Virsen, near Dusseldorf, three Tesla cars were contaminated with red paint, which had the inscription "FCK Elon", which could be a clear indicator of the political motivation of these actions.
According to LKA, the real number of attacks can be much higher, since not all criminal cases are registered in databases. Many cases related to motor transport are recorded in the general register without specifying specific brands of cars, which complicates the accurate calculation of the number of attacks on Tesla. However, it is obvious that the growth of attacks on this brand has a political basis.
Local authorities are trying to investigate these incidents, however, many of them remain unclear about motives. Some cases can be a consequence of political protest, while others are simply acts of vandalism or criminal nature.
Attacks on Tesla in Germany are concerned about the public, and against the backdrop of growing tensions in the political life of the country, these events can only be the beginning of wider protests against the influence of large technological companies on global political processes.
