The Chinese company UNITREE has introduced a new G1 Humanoid Robot, which surprised the world with its ability to perform complex gymnastic tricks, including lateral salto. About it reports the edition of Interesting Engineering.
G1 robot is created with high accuracy and stability of movements. In a video published by the developers, the device performs a side flap without any failure, demonstrating its extraordinary coordination. This was made possible by:
- 23 degrees of freedom that ensure natural smooth movements.
- 3D Lidar, RealSense Depths and Microphone Microphones, which allow you to navigate space and recognize voice commands.
- Height: 1.32 meters.
- Weight: 35 kg.
- Processor: an 8-core chip responsible for accurate movement calculations.
- Maximum walk speed: 7.2 km/h.
- Battery: 9000 mAh, which provides up to two hours of operation on one charge.
Before physical production, the G1 is trained in the ISAAC virtual simulator from NVIDIA. This allows you to work out algorithms and complex movements in the digital environment before applying them in real life.
This approach greatly accelerates the learning and improvement of movements.
Although G1 is currently demonstrating its capabilities as an engineering achievement, UNITREE plans to expand the scope of humanoid robots. Potentially they can be used for:
- Rescue operations.
- Physical rehabilitation.
- Service.
- Studies in human hazardous environments.
