The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have announced the detection of recruitment of Ukrainian adolescents by the Russian FSB. According to them, young people, at the request of the Russian intelligence service, carried out the cars of employees of territorial centers of staff (TCC, former military enlistment offices) in Kiev and Dnipro.
Recently, the number of attacks on the CCC employees and their vehicles has increased significantly in Ukraine.
The Russian side is currently refrain from comments about these accusations.
The SBU press service reported on Tuesday about the detention of a group of persons suspected of preparing the arson of cars of TCC servicemen in the Dnieper. According to the investigation, they planned to use homemade Molotov cocktails.
The members of the group went around the city to define potential goals and searched for parking lots, where servicemen left their cars, the SBU reported.
They approved the coordinates and goals with their Russian curator. According to the investigation, the members of the group have already set fire to one of the cars.
According to the results of the investigation, four locals, including two at the age of 17, were suspected of committing criminal acts. According to the SBU, they were in the field of view of the Russian special services in the summer of this year because of activity in telegrams, where they sought opportunities for easy earnings. In order to hide financial transactions, money was transferred to a bank card registered on a fictitious person.
In addition, they were entrusted with the distribution of inscriptions on city buildings that had to discredit the CCC staff. According to the SBU, this task was to create a negative image for local media and outside Ukraine.
During the searches, the detainees seized mobile phones, components for a homemade ignition mixture and a bank card, which received Russian financial resources.
The suspects were arrested and notified of suspicion under Article 194 of Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (deliberate destruction or damage to property).
In Kiev, law enforcement officers found another group of cars, which were a local resident Nizhyn, a 48-year-old woman, and her 14-year-old son. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the woman came to Kiev with her son to arson the car of a serviceman to order, which the son received through a telegram-channel from an unknown man.
During a night operation near the Mitsubishi Pajero car, the Armed Forces serviceman was pouring a car with gasoline and planning to shoot arson, but they were detained by law enforcement officers even before the fire. The suspects confessed that this was not the first time they committed the arson of cars to order.
The detainees were informed about the suspicion of committing Part 2 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (deliberate destruction or damage of property). The expert on military issues and former SBU employee, Ivan Stupak, believes that Russian special services recruit Ukrainian teenagers through social networks, such as telegrams, VKontakte, classmates. The attackers offer them money for various actions, including the arson of cars, without revealing to them that the car belongs to the Ukrainian military.
Stupak urged schools and families to monitor teenagers from disadvantaged families more closely, where there may be problems with education and education to prevent such cases in the future.
