According to the US Institute for War Study, Russian troops achieved "tactically significant successes" in Kharkiv region. This operation, according to analysts, has limited operational goals, but aimed at a strategic effect, which is to distract the Ukrainian military forces and equipment from other critical areas of the front.
The Institute, having studied the data of various sources, believes that Russian troops captured the shooter, Krasne and Borisovka. They will also use a captured bridgehead in the coming days to activate offensive operations.
The purpose of these operations, according to the organization, is to reject the Ukrainian forces from the border with the Belgorod region and move to Kharkiv to the distance of the artillery - that is, closer than 25 kilometers. Now the troops of the Russian Federation are 30 kilometers from Kharkiv.
"It is quite likely that the Russian forces have reserves, are ready to take on to activate offensive operations north of Kharkov in the coming days," the report reads.
"Artillery fire from closed positions in combination with the continued planned bomb and rocket strokes, is likely to be aimed at creating conditions for a larger offensive on Kharkiv at a later time," they conclude at the Institute.
At the same time, military experts do not see signs of operations from the large -scale environment of Kharkiv.
