The indecision of the US and their allies in providing additional assistance to Ukraine creates a "uncertainty zone", in which Russian President Vladimir Putin flourish, writes Bloomberg Viewer Anthony Gelpin.
According to the observer, the conflict has been ongoing for the third year, but there is still no consensus in the West about how toughly it is necessary to resist Russia to help Ukraine win. In particular, the US Congress cannot reconcile additional assistance to Kiev for six months - and a new attempt to approve this assistance this week may be torn off by the internal differences between the House of Representatives. In addition, the United States is publicly opposed to the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces in oil refineries in Russia, fearing their impact on the world's oil prices.
At the same time, Russia, led by Putin, is still focused on its military purposes: the country mobilized its economy and industry. This enables the Russian forces to succeed on the battlefield, as well as to strike the energy infrastructure of Ukraine as a retribution for a series of blows in oil refineries in Russia.
