The Russian army has modernized its shahad drones, which significantly increased their combat efficiency. According to the report of the Institute of War (ISW), new versions of these drones are now flying faster and accurately attacking goals, which creates additional challenges for the Ukrainian forces.
Changes in the characteristics of drones
The report refers to the testimony of a serviceman of the mobile air defense of the Armed Forces. He said that Shahaned drones were slow, poorly maneuverable and could only fly at low altitudes. However, thanks to modernization, the Russian military was able to improve the characteristics of drones, which allowed them to fly faster and at higher altitudes. This complicates the tasks of the Ukrainian military in intercepting and destroying these drones.
Ukraine's response: modernization and adaptation
Despite improving Russian drones, Ukrainian mobile fire groups also responded to challenges, improving their equipment and tactics. Thanks to these changes, the Ukrainian forces continue to effectively destroy enemy percussion drones.
