A Russian rocket killed people in the village of Groza. Now the UN has proof

The Monitoring Mission of the United Nations Human Rights in Ukraine (MMPLU) published a report that concluded that Russia probably caused a rocket strike in the village of Thunderstorm in Kharkiv region, which resulted in 59 civilians.

The UN claims that Russia, by striking, or has not taken all the necessary measures to make sure that the target is a military object, or the blow was deliberately aimed at civilian population, which is a violation of international humanitarian law.

The events unfolded in the village of Groz, where 63 locals gathered in a cafe to honor the memory of a Ukrainian serviceman who died on the front. About 20-25 minutes after the collection of residents, a rocket hit the village, destroying a single cafe.

The report emphasizes the extremely devastating effects of the impact, during which 15 local families have lost more than one family member. The process of identification of the dead has become incredibly difficult, and many victims were only identified through DNA analyzes. Families remained in a deep mountain and hopelessness, their lives have changed forever.

The report calls on Russia to recognize its responsibility for the attack, conduct a complete and transparent investigation of the event, and prosecute the perpetrators. The UN also requires access to legal protection for direct and indirect victims, including damages.
