Romania is preparing to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has recently submitted to the Parliament the transfer of Patriot Air Defense Systems to Ukraine. Although the allies were stated in June, it remains unclear whether it is a future transfer of the complex, or only the legal registration of the assistance already provided.

The Romanian edition of Defense Romania, commenting on the situation, drew attention to a similar case with the Netherlands, which have not previously discovered the exact terms of transmission of Patrioot to Ukraine. Defense Minister of the Netherlands Ruben Breccelmans, who is quoted in the publication, said: "I do not provide specific dates for deliveries not because of a lack of transparency, but to avoid providing information from Russia. However, I can assure that our promises will be fulfilled in the near future."

Romania, having joined the partners of Ukraine, which contribute to the strengthening of its air defense by American systems, maintains restraint on public supply applications. Defense Express emphasizes that every country that supplies weapons to Ukraine has the right to independently determine the policy of informing their obligations. It is worth noting that throughout the full -scale war, Romania has practically not revealing details about actual military assistance to Ukraine.

With regard to the pace of Patriot, Pentagon has recently confirmed that Ukraine remains priority among the recipients of this and other weapons. However, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine has not yet received all the promised Patriot systems. He called on the countries that previously promised these systems, to accelerate the transmission process: "Whatever the reason is, it is time to do it," the minister emphasized.
