The Ukrainian Security Service exposed the agent network of the Russian GRU, which prepared sabotage at Ukrzaliznytsia. Due to the timely actions of counterintelligence, it was possible to prevent the accidents of echelons with the military cargo of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which could cause serious damage to the country's defense capability.
The network was organized by Roman Yakimchuk from the temporarily occupied Crimea. In complicity with the "communications" Alexander Ignatiev, they invited the GRU leadership of 100 thousand dollars for operations, of which the contractor was promised only 40%.
The detained agent, a resident of Rivne, made a homemade brake device - the so -called "Bashmak", which could cause an accident with ammunition. To fix the terrorist attack, the attacker installed hidden cameras, masking them under the bird's nests.
The SBU managed to document the criminal activity of the agent network. The detained agent and his accomplices were suspected of the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 - State betrayal;
- Part 1 of Article 14, Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 113 - incitement for diversion;
- Part 1 of Article 263 - illegal handling of weapons.
The agent is currently in custody. He is threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
