The Farion scandal continued

Dmitry Lubinets, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, appealed to the law enforcement agencies of the country after inadequate statements of former MP Irina Farion on the military personnel of Ukraine who speak Russian. Lubinets regards her words as discrimination against the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Lubinets emphasized the importance of respect for the rights and dignity of all citizens, including servicemen, regardless of their ethnic, religious or linguistic affiliation. He stressed that abusive statements and accusations against military personnel who use national languages ​​are unacceptable.

The Commissioner also recalled that discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, religious beliefs and other features is prohibited by the current legislation of Ukraine.

Dmitry Lubinets appealed to the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting to check Irina Farion's statements and take appropriate measures within the law.

The Commissioner calls on all public persons to be responsible for their statements, and the media is careful about the dissemination of information, so as not to violate the equality of citizens in Ukraine. Violations of equality can entail legal consequences, as provided by law.
