The US Senate demands an investigation into Elon Musk's alleged ties to Russia

American Democratic senators called on the Pentagon and the Attorney General's Office to investigate possible contacts of businessman Elon Musk with Russian officials, in particular with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to lawmakers, such connections may pose a threat to US national security.

In a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Pentagon Inspector General Robert Storch, Sen. Gene Shaheen and Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reid expressed concern that Musk, as owner of SpaceX, which fulfills billions in contracts for the Pentagon, may have ties to "enemy of the USA".

These concerns were heightened after a Wall Street Journal in which Musk and Putin were allegedly in constant contact. The Kremlin has denied the claims, but their content raises "serious questions about Musk's credibility," the senators said.

Musk's alleged phone conversations with Russian officials could affect the performance of SpaceX's contracts, including those with the Pentagon and US intelligence. The situation is complicated by the fact that after the US presidential election, Musk actively communicates with Donald Trump in Florida, which annoys his closest circle.
