Bedding washing is a home duty that many are accustomed to delaying. But microbiologists urge to change these habits and wash sheets and pillowcases at least once a week. And even more often - if you are sick, sweaty or sleep with pets. This is emphasized by Professor of Clinical Microbiology of Leicester Prydrose Fristoun University.
During washing, the residues of sweat, skin fat, dead epidermis cells, allergens and dust disappear. Their accumulation can provoke infections, allergies, skin irritation and odor.
The microbiologist reminds that we lose about half a liter of sweat fluid daily, even if we take a shower before bedtime. Also in bed there are skin particles, dust, bacteria and fungi. All this creates a favorable environment for microorganisms that can provoke acne, itching, eczema or even breathing problems. In addition, in pillows, scientists found fungi aspergillus fumigatus - they pose a danger to people with weakened immunity. Another common resident of the bed is Candida Albicans fungus, which can cause urogenital infections. To get rid of these threats, bedding should be washed at least once a week at temperatures from 60 ° C. If your beds are sleeping in your bed, experts advise to change linen even more often - about 3-4 days. Animals bring wool, dandruff, dust and microorganisms that can remain on the tissues.
Do not forget about the hygiene of the pillows themselves, blankets and mattresses. The pillows should be washed every few months and periodically freeze to destroy dust mites. Blankets recommend to wash at least once a season, and mattresses are regularly vacuum. Microbiologists emphasize that the attention to the cleanliness of bedding is no less important than the duration of sleep. It is a simple habit that can significantly affect the quality of your life and health.
