Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal has declared Ukraine's readiness to cooperate with the European Union in important areas of mineral production and processing, including Uranus, Lithium carbonate and titanium. In an interview for Politico, published on February 14, Shmigal emphasized that Ukraine owns 22 of 30 of 30 critical minerals for the EU, and has significant advantages in these resources.
Schmigal reported that Ukraine ranks first in Europe in uranium reserves, which is important to meet the energy needs of not only the country but also the EU. "We are not only able to cover our own energy needs, but also to export uranium, especially in the conditions of increasing demand for nuclear energy in the EU," the Prime Minister said.
Ukraine also holds the leading position in Europe in the reserves of Lithium, which is important for the production of batteries and electric vehicles. Shmigal noted that the demand for carbonate lithium used in batteries will increase to 6 million tons by 2030, which creates opportunities for cooperation. "We are ready to create joint ventures that will give the EU a strategic advantage," he added.
Shmigal also noted that Ukraine is one of the world leaders in Titan's reserves. "Only 10% of the explored reserves are being developed, so we can completely replace the import of Russian titanium for the European industry, including the defense sector," he stressed.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of rebuilding Ukraine not only for the restoration of destroyed infrastructure, but also as an opportunity for Europe to achieve economic growth. "The restoration of Ukraine will be an important factor in the consolidation of Europe.
