The minimum wage in Ukraine in 2025 is 8 thousand hryvnias, and it has a direct impact on the amount of the pension received by Ukrainians. According to the former employee of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) and independent expert Sergey Korobkin, the pension is pulled to the level of minimum wages, provided there is a full length of service.
According to Ukrainian law, the pension may not be lower than 40% of the minimum wage, if a person has full experience - 30 years for women and 35 years for men. Given that the minimum wage in 2025 is 8,000 UAH, it means that the minimum pension will be at least 3,200 UAH.
However, there are different variants of minimum pensions depending on age and length of service: UAH 2 725 - for non -work pensioners; 3 370 UAH - for pensioners from 65 to 70 years, which do not work and have full length of service; 2 980 UAH - for pensioners up to 70 years and persons with disabilities of group I with full experience; 3 240 UAH-for pensioners from 70 to 80 years with full experience (for women 75-80 years-20 years of experience, for men-25 years); 3 370 hryvnias - for people over 80 years of age 20 years for women and 25 years for men.
If a person has a minimum length of service or part -time, the amount of the pension is calculated differently. According to Sergiy Korobkin, to calculate it is necessary to multiply the salary by a factor, which depends on the number of years of experience. For example, if a person is 20 years of experience, then the pension will be 20% of his salary. In 2024, the average salary in Ukraine was 18 020 UAH. If a person works for a minimum wage (UAH 8,000), his wage will be 0.44. Then, multiplying the coefficient by the average salary, we get the amount of UAH 5,966. If a person has 20 years of experience, this pension should be multiplied by 0.2, which gives 1 193 hryvnia. However, by law, the pension may not be lower than the minimum payment, so it is pulled in two stages: first up to UAH 2 361 (subsistence minimum), and then up to UAH 2 725, which is a minimum retirement payment for non -working persons.
The pension system of Ukraine provides different options for people with full and part -time experience. However, for those who have a short experience or work for a minimum wage, pension payments can be much less than expected. The legislation provides for a mechanism for raising such payments so that they are not lower than the minimum level, which helps to provide social justice for low income pensioners.
