Social network X suspends its activities in Brazil due to a conflict with a judge

On August 17, Company X announced the termination of its activity in Brazil because of the threats received from the judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil Alexander de Moraes. According to the company's press service, Moraesus put forward the threat of arrest of the representative of X in the country, if the social network does not obey his censorship orders.

"Last night, Alexander de Moraes threatened our legal representative in Brazil with arrest, if we do not comply with his order.

The company noted that they decided to close their activities in Brazil to protect their employees, emphasizing that numerous appeals to the Supreme Court had not been heard. They also noted that the Brazilian public was not informed of these orders, and the Brazilian staff X was not responsible for blocking content on the platform.

“Despite the fact that our numerous appeals to the Supreme Court have not been heard, the Brazilian public has not been informed of these orders, and our Brazilian staff is not responsible or controlling whether the content on our platform is blocked, Moraes decided to threaten our employees.

Despite the termination of activity in Brazil, X services remain available to residents of the country.

"We are deeply upset that we were forced to make this decision. Responsibility lies exclusively on Alexander de Moraes. His actions are incompatible with the democratic government. The Brazil people should make a choice - democracy or Alexander de Moraes," X.
