The FIFA 2026 Future World Cup will take place in three countries - the United States, Canada and Mexico. US President Donald Trump has signed a decree on the creation of a White House Working Group that will control the preparation for the competition.
According to the decree, the main task of this group will be "to demonstrate the pride and hospitality of the nation, while facilitating economic growth and tourism." The head of the group was appointed Trump himself.
US media reported that Trump is proud that the US will become one of the tournament countries. Recall that in 2018, when the three states were awarded the right to hold the championship, Trump was already president of the United States. He also personally plans to visit some FIFA 2026 matches.
While communicating with journalists, Trump said the competition would be interesting, and the current differences with Mexico and Canada will make the "even more exciting" tournament.
According to Trump administration, the championship will create about 200,000 jobs and will bring an economic effect of about $ 40 billion. The tournament, which starts in June 2026, is expected to attract about 8 million foreign tourists to the United States.
