According to a Reuters report, the owner of the popular social network TikTok, ByteDance, has decided not to sell the platform to American investors and is instead considering closing the program in the United States.
TikTok will be shut down, but not sold to Americans.
TikTok owner ByteDance will prefer to shut down its app rather than sell it if the company exhausts all legal options to fight a US law banning the platform passed yesterday.
The algorithms that TikTok relies on in its work are considered key to ByteDance's entire business, so selling an app with algorithms is unlikely.
