The US is investigating whether Israel violated the laws of war in the Gaza Strip

Baiden's administration has not yet come to the conclusion that Israel has violated the international laws of war, but the evaluation process is ongoing and has not yet made the final decision. This was reported by a spokesman for the US State Department, Matthew Miller.

According to him, the administration is obliged to report to Congress by May 8, according to the February Memorandum on National Security, reminiscent of US weapons, the need to comply with international law and provide humanitarian assistance.

"The process of evaluating their compliance with international humanitarian law is ongoing, and it has not yet completed. The next step will be to submit a report to Congress - this is the next stage, determined by the memorandum by May 8," where we will look at these issues in more detail, "Miller said.

The memorandum does not set new conditions for the use of US military equipment, but requires Baiden administration within 90 days to send a report to the congress as to whether the countries are fulfilling these requirements.

Asked whether US officials will reach the conclusion of the Congress report in early May, Miller said that the active process of determining what the report would look like.

"This is a completely new process. We have never made such reports before," he added.

Last week, Israel provided written guarantees, as the memorandum requires that the US weapon is not used to violate humanitarian law in the Gaza sector.

Why the United States is being checked by Israel: during a military operation against the Islamist Hamas Movement, Israel was struck and shelling in the Gaza Sector, which, according to the enclave health authorities, killed more than 32,000 Palestinians.

Increasing the number of casualties and a sharp shortage of food in the enclave attracted attention to the behavior of the Israeli military, as well as increased calls to President Baiden President to make conditions for the weapons he provides Israel.

The United States annually provide Israeli military assistance worth $ 3.8 billion. Some Democrats and Arab-American groups criticize the adamant support of Baiden's administration, claiming that it gives Israel a sense of impunity.

Human rights groups indicate numerous cases of damage caused to civilian population during the offensive of the Israeli Army in the Gaza sector. However, Baiden's administration still stated that she did not carry out an assessment that would recognize Israel as a violator of international law.

The Israeli Army plans to launch a ground invasion of Rafah near the border with Egypt in the south of the Gaza Sector. This is the last city under the control of the Palestinian Hamas Movement.

However, the United States does not agree with such plans of Israel. The countries of the West and Egypt opposed the invasion of the city, explaining it by the risk of mass death of refugees. In response, Israel proposed to evacuate 1.4 million civilians to the "humanities" in the central part of the region.

Last week, Multilateral Negotiations on the ceiling in the Gaza Sector began in Doha (Qatar).

On March 22, US Presidential Administration Joe Baiden first called for an immediate ceasefire in the region.

On March 25, the UN Security Council approved a resolution on ceasefire in the gas sector until Ramadan is completed. However, Israel refused to stop the attack on Hamas.

Instead, Tel Aviv agreed to the US proposals for the exchange of prisoners and hostages.
