US warned of withdrawal from peace talks If Russia does not change the position

In the United States, they again confirmed the readiness for the constructive peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine, but expressed serious concern by delaying the Russian Federation. In case of further refusal of the Kremlin from cooperation, Washington will consider the opportunity to stop his participation in diplomatic efforts. This was stated by the acting deputy permanent representative of the United States to the UN John Kelly during a meeting of the UN Security Council, Interfax-Ukraine .

"If Russia makes the wrong decision to continue this catastrophic war, the United States will have to consider the possibility of abandoning our negotiated efforts to end this conflict," Kelly stressed.

According to him, the US does not intend to abandon its principles or allies, but they will be forced to admit that Russia is not ready for effective cooperation. This will mean a rethinking of the approach to the negotiation process and perhaps a focus of efforts in other areas of support of Ukraine.

Kelly stressed that the peaceful process will be supported by the United States only with a sincere and open dialogue on both sides.

"We will insist on discussing peaceful issues in both parties in good faith," the diplomat said.

He also recalled that the United States was interested in cooperation with Russia, in particular in issues of peaceful settlement. This position, he said, is supported by US President Donald Trump.

“The transaction that is now offered is the best possible result for Russia. President Putin has to conclude an agreement, ”Kelly said, hinting at the window of opportunity that he can soon be closed.

The American representative called on both parties - both Russia and Ukraine - to make a "complex, historical decision" for the sake of peace. At the same time, he clearly noted that if one of the parties abandons such a step, it will be responsible for the continuation of the conflict.
