During a briefing of the UN Security Council, which took place on April 8, the US Ambassador Dorothy Shi said that the United States would not tolerate violations of commitments to ceasefire by Russia. She stressed that Russia should fully fulfill its obligations to the truce, which were agreed in Riyadh.
Shei expressed their condolences to the families of the dead during a blow to Kryvyi Rih, noting that the ballistic missile used had a cassette warhead, which is a violation of international norms. She also reminded that the United States proposed a comprehensive ceasefire of both Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine agreed to it, but Russia insisted on the armistice only on energy infrastructure and the Black Sea. Ukraine has also agreed to these conditions.
The US ambassador stressed that in order to reach peace, both parties must comply with its obligations. She called on Russia to demonstrate its commitment to peace and refrain from acts of violence, such as strikes on civilian objects and execution of prisoners of war, which can seriously harm the process of peace talks.
