The USA has suspended immigration programs for Ukrainians

The US Department of Internal Security has suspended several programs that allowed immigrants, including Ukrainians, to temporarily settle in the United States. According to The New York Times, among these programs - the initiative "Let us unite for the sake of Ukraine" (U4U), which gave the opportunity to entry to Ukrainians who had financial sponsors.

According to the newspaper, a directive sent by a high -ranking US Citizenship and Immigration Service to suspend decisions on applications for these programs until the US administration has made a final decision on their future. The U4U program, launched during the Presidency of Joe Biden, allowed more than 150,000 Ukrainians to enter the United States as of September 2023.

Changes in migration policies have already affected Ukrainians who tried to use the U4U program, as well as those who planned to reunite with family in the United States. Groups for Ukrainians in the US are reported to rejection of entry permission for many applicants. Many Ukrainians have been difficult for changes when their relatives or acquaintances were in the process of entry.

This decision is part of a broader trend, as it has become known that the United States has also suspended several civilian projects in Ukraine, including school support and health care assistance through USAID.
