US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced the allocation of more than $ 1.5 billion to strengthen Ukraine's energy sector. This includes $ 500 million new funding for energy assistance and redirection of $ 324 million from previously announced funds.
"This financing will be aimed at repairing energy infrastructure, damaged by war, expanding electricity production, promoting private investment and protecting energy infrastructure. These efforts will help Ukraine respond to Russia's latest attacks on the Ukrainian energy system by maintaining repair and restoration, and increasing Ukraine's sustainability.
Assistance also includes support for complex protection measures, including legal services and psychosocial support, as well as assistance in agriculture and existence, so that families can restore income and meet their basic needs.
Vice-President Harris also stated that, in cooperation with Congress, the State Department plans to provide an additional $ 300 million to support Ukraine's civil security, in particular for the purchase of rescue equipment for Ukrainian border guards and law enforcement agencies.
Since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Russia in February 2022, the United States has allocated more than $ 3.2 billion to finance humanitarian aid and almost $ 1.5 billion to help restore the energy sector, create clean and reliable energy and strengthen transparency in the sector.
