Former US National Security Advisor, General Keith Kellogg, will no longer participate in negotiations with Russia. Instead, he will focus solely on the Ukrainian issue. This decision was announced by Donald Trump, presenting it as a strategic step. However, analysts suggest that the real reason was the requirements of the Kremlin, who refuses to conduct a dialogue with a general supporting Kiev.
In his statement, Truth Social Trump noted that Kellogg will work directly with Vladimir Zelensky and Ukrainian leadership. According to him, they already know each other well and have productive working relationships. The general initially received an appointment to negotiate the war. In November, Trump stated that Kellogg will become a key figure in the implementation of the concept of "peace through force." In February, he consulted with European leaders and worked on the conflict resolution plan. However, later his role began to decline. According to NBC News, during the latest negotiations in Riyadh Kellogg, he was not allowed to debate due to pressure from Moscow. The Kremlin considered General too much about and demanded his removal. Kellogga has replaced Steve Witcoff, a developer, which has played an increasingly important role in international negotiations. It was he who recently achieved the release of American Mark Fogel from Russian imprisonment. Vitcoff also participates in negotiations on the release of hostages held by Hamas group, and in parallel with a dialogue with Moscow. The White House does not comment on the situation yet, but changes can mean viewing US approaches to interaction with Russia and Ukraine. General Keith Kellogg is an ancient critic of Biden administration, especially her policies on war in Ukraine. During the first term Trump, he held a number of positions in the White House, in particular, performed the duties of the National Security Advisor.
Known as a supporter of rigid policy on Russia, Kelloggi has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine's support for Ukraine is the key to restraining the Kremlin. His new appointment may indicate that Trump is preparing a new strategy on the Ukrainian issue.
