French President Emmanuel Macron convenes an urgent meeting of European leaders to be held in Paris on Monday, February 17th. The purpose of the summit is to discuss further steps after the latest statements of US President Donald Trump, who have caused concern among European partners.
According to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky, the summit will be an important opportunity for European countries to discuss "very serious" challenges that have arisen as a result of the methods of work of President Trump. Sikorsky compared these methods with tactics, which the Russians call "intelligence" - tactics when a country or leader takes some steps to evaluate the reaction of others, and then changes its position. This puts European leaders in the need to respond quickly.
Although the exact composition of the participants of the summit has not yet been determined, it is known that the meeting will be attended by the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who received an invitation from President Macron. Information about which European leaders will come to the meeting is still unknown, but it can be assumed that key EU leaders or a separate group of representatives will gather the summit. This summit is a response to Kit Kellog's recent statements, a special representative of the US President for Ukraine and Russia, for peace talks, as well as for previous comments by US Vice -President Jay Di Vens, who stated that the United States was ready to use the force to force Moscow to a peaceful agreement with Ukraine.
This meeting in Paris can be a key point in identifying further Europe's strategies against the background of international stress, especially given the situation in Ukraine.
