President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a decision to extend martial law and general mobilization in the country by May 13 due to a full -scale invasion of Russia. This decision was approved by the signing of laws providing for the extension of the duration of martial law and general mobilization.
According to the draft card, the President signed Law No. 10456, which continues martial law, as well as Law No. 10457, which provides for the continuation of general mobilization. Both terms were extended for 90 days, from February 14, 2024 to May 13, 2024.
This is the tenth decision to introduce martial law and general mobilization since the start of a full -scale war.
The Ukrainian government introduced the martial law due to a full -scale invasion of Russia, which occurred on February 24, 2022. This is a special legal regime that allows state bodies, military command and local self -government to grant the necessary powers to prevent a threat.
General mobilization is an operational mechanism for mobilization of citizens from 18 to 60 years (mainly men) who can perform military duties and is conducted throughout Ukraine.
