Seoul will make a decision to support Ukraine with weapons, given the new military pact between Moscow and Pyongyang, South Korea Jun Jol Jol said.
Required about the possibility of supplying weapons to Ukraine, Yun said that South Korea would closely monitor the level and orientation of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. This will include areas such as weapons trade, the transfer of military technologies and assistance with strategic materials, he added.
Yun noted that he plans to discuss with NATO leaders the threat posed by North Korea for Europe, and to strengthen military ties with Russia, warning that Moscow will have to choose between two Korea depending on its interests.
"Military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is a great threat to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in Europe," Yun said.
Relations between South Korea and Russia have deteriorated after Moscow received ballistic missiles and artillery against Ukraine from Pyongyang. South Korea protested after Putin's visit to Pyongyan in June and signing a mutual defense agreement with Kim Jong.
Yun, the first South Korean leader to participate in the NATO summit in 2022, is about to visit Washington for the third participation in a similar meeting. Together with Australia, Japan and New Zealand, South Korea is part of the four Asian-Pacific partners who join the negotiations on July 10-11.
Yun is insisting in strengthening security with Europe and other US allies to curb the nuclear and rocket threat from North Korea.
