Ukraine loses hundreds of billion hryvnias every year through the shadow economy. In the light of the need for financial support for the defense sector and the overall strengthening of the economy, MP Danylo Getmantsev called for special attention to the scale of the shadow sector.
According to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, the shadow economy in Ukraine reaches UAH 800-900 billion every year. This ranges from 30% to 50% of the country's economy, and in some sectors - even up to 60%. This situation, according to the deputy, hinders the economic development of Ukraine.
"It is a tremendous resource that could work on the country's economy and the army," Hetmantsev stressed, emphasizing that shadowing can be a real source of additional funding. In the context of the needs of the military sector, he recalled the statement of the deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak about the lack of UAH 400 billion for the purchase of weapons.
Getmantsev believes that thanks to effective measures from detinization in 2025, the state budget can receive more than UAH 164 billion of additional revenues. This will not only be a significant step towards stabilizing finances, but also an important resource to support the Ukrainian army and restore the economy.
