Trump again calls for ceasefire in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump again called for a ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine, stressing that the United States is negotiating with Russia. Speaking on board the presidential aircraft, Trump said he did not like the continuation of shelling by Russia, which resulted in the death of thousands of young people.

"We talk to Russia. We would like them to stop. I do not like that they are bombing again and again, and thousands of young people die every week," Trump said. He also emphasized that the war would not have begun if he was president of the United States: "It was horrible, it should never have begun, it would never have begun if I was president, 100 percent." These statements were heard when Trump's return to Washington after the weekend spent in Florida at a golf tournament. Interestingly, Trump chose to participate in a tournament sponsored by Saudi Arabia, instead of being present at the funeral of four American soldiers who died in Lithuania's military exercises.

His words were response to the statement of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who called on the United States to give a clear answer to Russia's refusal to agree to the ceasefire. Zelensky noted that they are waiting for a response from the United States, but have not yet received it.

Also, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his opinion, supporting the calls for ceasefire. In his post on X Macron wrote that Russia continues to wage war with new force, neglecting peaceful inhabitants. "These Russian blows should stop. It is necessary to stop the fire as soon as possible," the Macron said, adding that the pressure on Russia is still insufficient.
