According to the information published by The Economist, Russia mobilizes a large number of military for a possible attack on Kharkiv. It can be both a real threat and a component of an information campaign to intimidate Ukrainians. According to the newspaper, Russia trains about 120,000 soldiers in Siberia, which may be preparing for a possible offensive on Kharkiv.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russia plans to mobilize another 300,000 soldiers in June. Kharkiv is considered one of the possible directions for the future attack.
It is noted that Russia trains six divisions in Eastern Siberia, which may indicate preparation for a possible offensive on Kharkiv. However, such an attack for Russia will be a difficult task, especially given the large defensive power of the city. In the past, in 2022, when Russia tried to seize Kharkiv, it failed because of strong resistance of Ukrainian troops.
According to the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Yusov, it is possible to plan Russia's attack on Kharkiv to destabilize the situation in Ukraine and psychological pressure on the local population.
It is also noted that Russian attacks on Belgorod, adjacent to Kharkiv, cause concern in Western countries. Russia is expected to start a new offensive at the end of May, but specific changes at the front are not predicted at the moment.
