On November 30, four Turkish F-16 fighters arrived at the 86th Borch Air Base in Romania, joining the expanded NATO mission for air control in the south.
Together with Romania and Germany aircraft, Turkish fighters will provide NATO airspace on the Black Sea coast and restrain potential air threats. This step testifies to the dedication of NATO allies mutual support and strengthening of the Alliance's collective defense.
"I congratulate Germany and Turkey with additional fighters for NATO air control in Romania," said NATO Dylan White Acting Acting. "This is a demonstration of the ability and determination to protect our people and territories. NATO Air Force is ready to respond to any threat from any direction."
In cooperation with German Eurofights and the French Mamba Air Defense System, the Turkish F-16 is planned to be in Romania for four months.
After a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, NATO increased its presence in the eastern Alliance, including strengthening of aviation resources and conducting intelligence flights.
