Thousands of protesters in Hungary came out against Orbán's party

On Sunday, May 5, a mass protest against the Fidesz party and Prime Minister Viktor Orban took place in Hungary. Thousands of locals took to the streets in the Eastern city of Debrecen at the call of the former government insider and oppositionist Peter Magyara.

The rally organized by Magyar gathered about 10,000 participants who expressed their disagreement with Orban's policies, in particular, his strategy on the level of alimony in the country, which they consider too low.

Earlier, protests in Budapest blocked the Hungarian Parliament building, where the Cabinet is also located, demanding the resignation of the Orban government through corruption scandals and attacks on democratic institutions.

The White House expressed concern about the situation in Hungary, condemning attacks on democracy and stating the need to combat corruption in the country.
