In the two-year report of the UN, the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP were made public

As a result of a full -scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, especially severe consequences had the ecological status of the region as a result of the exclusion of the Kakhovsky hydroelectric power plant in June 2023 by Russian military dams.

According to the two -year report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (MMPLU) under the name “Protection of Civilians: the impact of hostilities on civilians since February 24, 2022”, at least 80 settlements located below the Dnieper River were recorded.

In general, according to the joint assessment of the Government of Ukraine and the UN, the effects of the flood have led to damage to more than 37 thousand homes, 37 educational institutions and about 11 medical installations. Drinking water supply was also disrupted.

It is reported that water has flooded more than 11,000 hectares of forests, five territories listed in the Ramsar list, as well as 12 territories of the Emerald network.

"All these consequences seriously violate the right to a sufficient standard of living and a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, both in the short -term and in the long run," the UN monitoring mission reports.
