In Lebanon, the last power plant stopped working due to lack of fuel

The power plant in the south of Lebanon stopped its work due to the complete depletion of fuel reserves. This has been the last blow to the country's energy infrastructure, which has been in severe economic crisis for several years. This was reported by the National Agency Agency Agency with reference to DW.

The station operator has declared a complete termination of electricity supply to all areas of Lebanon. This means that airports, water supply and sewage infrastructure, ports, prisons and other important objects are left without power supply. In particular, Beirut's port and all the prisons of the country have plunged into darkness. South Lebanon's water supply has warned that the power outage would adversely affect the region with water.

The energy crisis in Lebanon unfolds against the background of exacerbation of political and economic instability in the country, which has been undergoing deep recession for several years. Lebanon's infrastructure, including energy, has long needed modernization, but because of financial problems, these issues could not be resolved.

In addition, this crisis coincided with increasing US military presence in the Middle East. In early August, the Pentagon sent additional equipment and personnel to the region due to the threat of war, which further exacerbated the situation.

Energy collapse threatens not only the daily life of citizens, but also the functioning of important infrastructure objects of the country that meet the basic needs of the population. It is unknown how long this crisis will last and when the country can restore electricity supply.
