All Iranian consulates have stopped working in Germany

From November 25, 2024, all three Iran General Consulates, located in Hamburg, Munich and Frankfurt, have officially stopped in Germany. This decision was made in response to the execution of the Iranian-German citizen Jamshid Sharmada in Iran.

Despite the closing of the consulates, the Iranian Embassy in Berlin will continue to function. It will provide consular support of about 300,000 Iranians living in Germany.

The closure of the consulates also influenced diplomatic staff: 32 employees will lose their right to live in Germany and have to leave the country if they do not have German citizenship.

The decision to close the consulate was announced on October 31 after the execution of Jamshid Sharmada, who had double citizenship. Germany condemned this execution by calling it politically motivated and human rights violation.
