In the city of Dolton, Illinois, a house was put up for sale, which spent part of his childhood Pope Lion XIV. The three -bedroom dwelling is located approximately 32 kilometers from the center of Chicago. About it reports Bloomberg.
The house was tried to sell in early 2025 after it was bought and restored by a private investor. Then the object was estimated at $ 250,000 - significantly more expensive than the initial price of $ 66 thousand, for which real estate was purchased earlier. However, the interest in the house remained small.
The situation changed dramatically on May 8 - on the day of the election of Lion XIV Pope. Within a few hours after this event, the seller received eight proposals for buying and temporarily withdrew public access.
“Before the pope is elected, the house was just a building. When the pope was chosen, it became something else - it became much larger than just the house, ”said the executive director of Paramount Realty, who is selling.
As it is noted, the auction officially lasts until June 18, but the agreement can be concluded earlier.
Lion XIV was born in Chicago and spent part of his childhood in Dolton. He has close ties with the local Catholic community, and is a graduate of the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, where in 1982 he received a master's degree in theology.
