Hungary is investigating the outbreak of Lamshur, which struck four farms of cattle in the west of the country. The outbreak of the disease, which became known in early March, has caused concern, and the government of the country does not reject the possibility that the virus could be "artificially created".
In particular, Gergey Guyash, the head of the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, during a briefing on April 10, stated that the investigation aimed to establish how the virus got into these farms. An important part of the investigation is the origin of the virus. Guyash noted that it is impossible to reject the possibility of artificial creation of the virus, not its natural occurrence.
This causes additional fears because Lambur is a highly contagious disease that can have serious economic consequences, especially for agriculture where cattle are an important resource. The Hungarian authorities continue to study all the options for developing the situation to take the necessary steps to combat the disease and prevent its further spread.
