Ukraine is preparing for mass migration against the backdrop of energy crises

According to the UNCCC representative in Ukraine, Carolina Lindholm Billing, the country can witness the mass migration of the population in a few months. People are expected to start moving from one regions to another, as well as from cities to villages, especially those who will stay out of work because of electrical and heat generation problems. This process is expected to activate with the second half of the fall, when the weather conditions become colder, there is a risk of insufficient energy in many cities.

According to the United Nations, even if the state of electricity generation and import capabilities remain at the current level, the deficit can reach 35%. This can lead to power supply over a large part of the day, which will immediately affect people's living conditions.

The UN calls for a thorough verification of Ukraine's energy sector and quickly repair and restore the necessary infrastructure before winter. This will require considerable effort and probably help international partners.

The organization also emphasizes the importance of decentralization of the energy system, which will reduce vulnerability to possible emergencies and ensure the stability of the energy complex in the future.
