Ukraine is developing an ambitious project to modernize the border infrastructure on the western border, aimed at increasing throughput and creating more convenient conditions for crossing the border. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Serhiy Derkach.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the load on the checkpoints with the countries of the European Union increased significantly. Ukraine is forced to adapt its border infrastructure to new realities in order to ensure fast and convenient crossing of the border by citizens and goods.
- Reconstruction of checkpoints:
- Six checkpoints on the border with Poland;
- Three with Slovakia;
- Five with Romania;
- Three with Hungary;
- Eleven with Moldova.
- Construction of new checkpoints:
- On the border with Romania: Bila Tserkva - Sigetu-Marmaciei, Bila Krynytsia - Klimeuti, Ruska - Ulma, Shepit - Izvoreale Sucevei;
- On the border with Hungary: Velyka Palady - Nadgodos, Diyda - Beregdarots.
- Implementation of joint control:
- The aim is to reduce waiting time in queues and ensure simplification of border crossing procedures.
- Creation of a network of service areas:
- Service areas for the comfort of travelers, including places to rest, eat and refuel.
